If you have always asked yourself how chatting works and what the abbreviations stand for that the others are using, the following description might be useful to you.
Smilies There is a big variety of smilies that you can use to impart facial expressions to other chatters.
You'll find the most important ones here with some explanations:
| :-) | Happy Smiley: This is really the most frequently used smiley of all others. By using it, you indicate that the written message has been something funny or friendly.

| :-( | Sad Smiley: It is an expression of mourning.

| ;-) | Twinkling Smiley: If you see it at the end of a sentence, you should not take the content too seriously. It is also used as joshing.

| :-D | Rident Smiley: The Smiley expresses that you find something amusing or that you are happy, just like :-).
|
| :-P | Smiley with sticked out tongue: With this smiley you are making fun of something.

Abbreviations The most frequently used abbreviations are explained here:

Commands Please simply enter the commands in the line you also send its messages with:
| /nick NAME | Enter this command in order to get a desired NAME in the chat. Existing names cannot be taken anymore.

| /join #NAME | With this command you can change to other chat channels. If the channel with the entered name should still not be available, it will be created. This is how you can chat for example with 3 chatters in private .

| /query NAME | For NAME you have to enter the chat person you would like to chat with in a seperate room. For other chatters it is not possible to enter this room. You are also able to double-click on the person (at the right) in the list in the channel.
